WESTERN RESERVE NATIONAL CEMETERY
VETERANS DAY 2008

I recently had the honor of performing my songs at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.

The posting and retiring of colors, as well as the Rifle Salute, was handled by the 555th Honors Detachment from Wooster, Ohio.

I was so moved by the attendance. The weather did not cooperate, with temperatures in the 30's, rain and wind!

Yet, in spite of the difficult conditions, veterans and their families of all ages were there, regardless of personal health or inconvenience.

Young and old came out to pay tribute to our veterans. "Hats off" to those parents who teach our youth to honor our current troops and veterans.

Major General Fred Lick, Jr. (left) was the Keynote Speaker. General Lick is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Cleveland Chapter of the Korean War Veterans. What an honor it was for me when this Major general firmly shook my hand and thanked me for my "We Give Our Thanks To You" song!

Congresswoman Betty Sutton of Ohio's 13th congressional district was also in attendance, pledging her continued support for all veterans. Seated next to her is Mr. Dan Rospert, Funeral Director of Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, who was the Master of Ceremonies.
